Microsoft Word 2007: Level 1

Course Description: Word processing is the use of computers to create, revise, and save documents for printing and future retrieval. This course is the first in a series of three Microsoft® Office Word 2007 courses. It will provide you with the basic concepts required to produce basic business documents.

Course Objective: You will create, edit, and enhance standard business documents using Microsoft® Office Word 2007.

Target Student: Persons with a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows who need to learn how to use Microsoft® Word 2007 to create,edit, format, lay out, and print standard business documents complete with tables and graphics.

Prerequisites: This course assumes that you are familiar with using personal computers and have used a mouse and keyboard (basic typing skills are recommended). You should be comfortable in the Windows environment and be able to use Windows to manage information on your computer. Specifically, you should be able to launch and close programs; navigate to information stored on the computer; and manage files and folders. Windows: Introduction or equivalent knowledge is required.

Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• create a basic document.
• edit documents by locating and modifying text.
• format text.
• format paragraphs.
• use Word tools to make your documents more accurate.
• add tables to a document.
• add graphic elements to a document.
• control a document's page setup and its overall appearance.

 

Microsoft Word 2007: Level 2

Course Description: You will add complexity to Microsoft® Office Word 2007 documents and create personalized efficiency tools in Microsoft® Word 2007.

Course Objective: You will add complexity to Microsoft® Office Word 2007 documents and create personalized efficiency tools in Microsoft® Word 2007.

Target Student: This course was designed for persons who can create and modify standard business documents in Microsoft® Word 2007, and who need to learn how to use Microsoft® Word 2007 to create or modify complex business documents as well as customized Word efficiency tools.

Prerequisites: Students should be able to use Microsoft® Word 2007 to create, edit, format, save, and print basic business documents that contain text, basic tables, and simple graphics. Students can obtain this level of skill by taking the following Microsoft Word 2007: Level 1

Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Microsoft Word 2007: Level 3

Course Description: You know how to use Microsoft® Office Word 2007 to create and format typical business documents. But you need to work on more complex documents. In this course, you will learn how to use Word to create, manage, revise, and distribute long documents, forms, and Web pages.

Course Objective: You will create, manage, revise, and distribute long documents, forms, and Web pages.

Target Student: This course was designed for persons with a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows who can create and modify standard business documents in Microsoft® Office Word 2007, and who need to learn how to use the more advanced features of Word 2007 to create, manage, revise, and distribute long documents, forms, and Web pages.

Prerequisites: Students should be able to use Microsoft® Office Word 2007 to create, edit, format, save, and print business documents that contain text, tables, and graphics. Students should also be able to use a Web browser and an email program. A basic understanding of XML would also be helpful. In order to understand how Word interacts with other applications in the Microsoft Office System, students should have a basic understanding of how worksheets and presentations work. To ensure your success, we recommend you first take Microsoft® Office Word 2007: Level 1 & Level 2, or have equivalent knowledge.

Microsoft Excel 2007: Level 1

Course Description: In Excel 2007 you will create, edit, format, and print basic spreadsheets.

Course Objective: You will create and edit basic Microsoft® Office Excel 2007 worksheets and workbooks.

Target Student: Persons with a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows who desire to gain the skills necessary to create, edit, format, and print basic Microsoft® Excel 2007 worksheets.

Prerequisites: We recommend you first take Windows XP: Introduction or have equivalent knowledge of the Windows operating system.

Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• create a basic worksheet.
• modify a worksheet.
• create formulas.

• develop a workbook.
• print the contents of a workbook.

Microsoft Excel 2007: Level 2

Course Description: In Excel 2007: Level 1, you created, edited, formatted, and printed basic spreadsheets. You now have a need to streamline repetitive tasks and display spreadsheet data in more visually effective ways. In this course, you will use Microsoft® Excel 2007 to streamline and enhance your spreadsheets with templates, charts, graphics, and formulas.

Course Objective: You will apply visual elements and advanced formulas to a worksheet to display data in various formats.

Target Student: The target students for this course are students who desire to gain the skills necessary to create templates, sort and filter data, import and export data, analyze data, and work with Excel on the Web. In addition, this course helps students who already have knowledge of the basics of Excel, including how to create, edit, format, and print basic worksheets.

Prerequisites: To ensure your success, we recommend that you have experience with creating, editing, formatting, saving, and printing basic spreadsheets in Microsoft® Excel 2007. Students can obtain this level of skill by taking Microsoft Excel 2007: Level 1 In addition, Web browsing experience is strongly recommended.

Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• create and apply templates.

Microsoft Excel 2007: Level 3

Course Description: You have used Microsoft® Office Excel 2007 to perform tasks such as running calculations on data and sorting and filtering numeric data. You would now like to automate some common tasks, apply advanced analysis techniques to more complex data sets, collaborate on worksheets with others, and share Excel data with other applications. In this course, you will do all of
these things.

Course Objective: You will automate some common Excel tasks, apply advanced analysis techniques to more complex data sets, collaborate on worksheets with others, and share Excel data with other applications.

Target Student: This course was designed for students desiring to gain the skills necessary to create macros, collaborate with others, audit and analyze worksheet data, create PivotTables and PivotCharts, incorporate multiple data sources, and import and export data.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007: Level 1

Course Description: In the past, you have used paper-based overhead systems to give presentations. Now, you want to upgrade those presentations to an electronic format. You can use Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2007 to create electronic presentations.

Course Objective: You will create effective basic Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2007 presentations for delivery in front of an audience.

Target Student: This course is designed for students who are interested in learning the fundamentals needed to create and modify basic Microsoft® PowerPoint® 2007 presentations.

Prerequisites: To ensure your success, we recommend you first take one of the following courses or have equivalent knowledge: Windows: Introduction and Word Level 1

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007: Level 2

Course Description: As a Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2007 user familiar with the basics, you're able to convey information clearly without much glitz. That's okay, but you can do better. Audiences expect more than the basics. In this course, you will enhance presentations with features that will transform basic presentations into those with a powerful means of communication.

Course Objective: You will use Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2007 features that draw, animate, and format presentations with professional-quality content such that they may be communicated to a wide variety of live, remote, and self-service audiences.

Target Student: This course is designed for students who desire to gain the skills necessary to work with design templates, organizational charts, special effects, Web presentations, collaboration functionality, and advanced presentation delivery and who already have knowledge of the basics of Microsoft® PowerPoint® 2007, including slide formatting, working with tables, images, and objects, charting data, and presentation preparation.

Prerequisites: To ensure your success, we recommend that you have taken the courses or possess equivalent knowledge.Windows: Introduction and PowerPoint 2007: Level 1. Web browsing experience is also strongly recommended.

Course Description: This course is the first in a series of three Microsoft® Office Outlook® courses. It will provide you with the skills you need to start sending and responding to email in Microsoft® Outlook® 2007, as well as maintaining your Calendar, scheduling meetings, and working with tasks and notes.

Course Objective: You will compose and send email, schedule appointments and meetings, manage contact information and tasks, and use notes.

Target Student: This course is designed for people with a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows who need to learn how to use Microsoft® Outlook® 2007 to compose and send email, schedule appointments and meetings, manage contact information and tasks, and use notes.

Microsoft Windows Vista: Level 1

Course Description: Students will learn the benefits of working with personal computers and of using Windows XP. In this course you will learn the basics of Microsoft Windows XP. The course is intended for people who are new to Windows XP, or upgrading from a previous version of Windows, and want to get up to speed quickly.

Course Objective: Students will learn how to use the Windows environment to manage files and folders, customize the desktop and work with common Windows utilities and applications.

Target Student: This course is designed for people who want to learn about the basics of the Windows Vista operating system.

Prerequisites: None

Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Identify some fundamental personal computing concepts and terminology.
• Examine and identify components of the Windows desktop.
• Explore the hard disk and network by using My Computer and Network Neighborhood.
• Become accustomed to common Windows program techniques by experimenting with Help and WordPad.
• Work with multiple programs by using the taskbar to switch between tile windows.
• Share data between programs by using the Edit, Copy and Paste commands.
• Navigate the disk drive by using Windows Explorer.
